Friggin’ awesome!
If you watch only one political ad this entire election season, watch this one.
Que sera, sera, whatever will be, will be, but first I need more coffee.
I made these boots to honor the memory of those who came before.
Friggin’ awesome!

Since I will be out of town on Nov 4. I requested an absentee ballot. I did receive my ballot, and I read those instructions carefully. As instructed, I had the affidavit notarized. I was a little alarmed that the instructions told me to use a No. 2 pencil. I did so. I put my marked ballots in the envelope marked BALLOTS, and put that envelope in the envelope bearing the Affidavit, and then I put that envelope inside the envelope marked Outer Envelope. After sealing it all up I walked over to the campus post office. It cost me 59 cents to mail.
I won’t say how I voted, but if you’ve read my posts and comments, you can probably guess who I voted for for president. I will say this: when I saw Sarah Palin’s name on the ballot it was only then that it really sunk in that she was the VP nominee for the Republicans. I had a similar but lesser reaction when I learned that Ahnold became the governator of California. Then I actually visited some friends in the Bay Area, and I realized looking around OMG he’s the governor of this state. I knew intellectually what a disaster she’d be for the country when I learned enough about her, but seeing her name in black and white on the actual ballot I got a sinking feeling in my stomach.
This is an historic election and for many of us will be the most important vote we will ever cast. Regardless of who wins, we Americans have huge challenges ahead of us. With the right leadership we can take on those challenges. With the wrong leadership, we’ll fail. Only you can decide what choice to make.
I amazed every time I watch him. Obama really is a once in a generation politician. If anyone can get us through the troubling times ahead of us, he’s the one. Yeah, that one.
Sure you could vote for a 72 year old war hero (and a four-time melanoma survivor) and a charming but divisive governatrix. And if you think she’s capable of stepping in at a moments notice then I have a bridge to nowhere to sell you.
If Obama can beat Hillary and beat McCain and beat the Republicans, beating the terrorists will be a cake walk.
The next four years will not be easy. America is in for some very rough times and perhaps days darker than anything we’ve seen in the last eight years of this disastrous administration. There will be a difference. If we elect Obama, we’ll have a president who we knows cares about all Americans not just the ‘real’ Americans. (former US Marine and SF author Elizabeth Moon has some thoughts on what a ‘real’ American is). We’ll have a president to inspire us to be better than we are.
I somehow doubt this negative ad will have the intended effect, but I love it anyway. This is an example of a 527 ad.
Glenn Beck proves once again he is an ass clown. Here’s the problem: some conservatives think if a political view doesn’t agree with theirs, it must be marxist/socialist/communist. Since they can’t use the word marxist or socialist except amongst like minded folks they use the code word liberal. Has Glenn even read The Communist Manifesto or even read the Wikipedia entry on Marxism?
Crooks & Liars: Glenn Beck: ‘They’re all Marxists’
So there is nothing wrong with being a liberal or liberalism. There is no reasoning with some conservatives. They think everyone on the left is some kind of hate filled angry marxist looney. They refuse to see there are different kinds of Democrats: traditional liberals, progressives, conservative Democrats, centrists and moderates. By holding to this narrow view of politics leaves them at a disadvantage to understanding the left. It also makes them fearful. By demonizing the other side there can be no political discourse. There can be no loyal opposition. As the days countdown to the election I fully expect the crazies on both sides to really ratchet up the rhetoric, and I would not be suprised to see acts of violence and intimidation.
You only have to go south of the border to find a real honest to God socialist and his name is Hugo Chavez. There are stark differences between him and Obama. Oh and another thing this same tired mantra about the Democratic presidental candidate being the most liberal senator is bullshit. Obama is only the 31st most liberal Senator. Hawaii, Indonesia, and Kenya don’t count for going south of the border, but visiting a Brazilian girlfriend does.
Some people don’t like name calling. Glenn should stop calling people what they aren’t. I called him an ass clown because he comes across as a type of clown, a buffoon. And I call him an ass because he makes an ass of himself by presenting himself on national TV. I’m very glad that he’s leaving CNN to go to the network he belongs on Fox Noise.
For the record. I am not a liberal. I am a progressive.
