Que sera, sera, whatever will be, will be, but first I need more coffee.

I made these boots to honor the memory of those who came before.

Evening Bats

The past two evenings I’ve been walking Mystery in Heller Park. On occasion in the dusk sky I’d see creatures flitting around like bats, but couldn’t positively ID them as bats. They are pretty small. They are bats it’s just hard to even make out the silhouette against the sky to say, “Yep, that’s a bat.” I managed to go early enough where there was still enough light to ID them.

I got out my handy new Stoke’s Beginner’s Guide to Bats. It breaks them down by color code and there is a list for each state and which ones are common and which are uncommon. Based on the description. It looks like the are Evening Bats. I also heard a chirping noise which the book doesn’t describe them making. Since they only emit ultrasound I can’t hear that. Even the low end is still too high. I wonder if some other creature was making that noise? But the sound was coming from the general direction of the bats. I’ll see if I can take a picture with my new camera, but I don’t hold out much hope.

Colorado/WorldCon Pics

At last I’ve posted some of the pictures taken on our Colorado/WorldCon vacation.

Melissa & Chris

This is our obligatory Pike’s Peak snapshot.

Two Hummers and a Bee

Playing with my new camera. It’s a Canon S5IS. There were was a hummingbird feeder outside the 2nd floor of the Pike’s Peak Cog Railway station.

More pics from Boulder,Fort Collins and Pike’s Peak.

Zombies

There is a story behind this picture. Alas, it’s not very interesting so I won’t relate. All I can say is that it involves zombies. That’s Jay Lake in the fiery shirt in the center. To his immediate right is Frank Wu and to the far right is Keith Stokes. Joe Haldeman is apparently hiding.

More WorldCon Pics

I still have to upload and tag my pics from the Denver Botanic Gardens and the Cosmophere.

The Twa Bloggies

I was under the impression I could import my blog entries into my livejournal account. I see no reason to have two online journals. So I’ve been searching through the settings and finding this is not the case. I’ve read the help about syndicated content but it’s useless.

I guess for now I’ll just post the link to my blog:

I’ll keep reading the help and maybe I’ll eventually figure it out. I may add tags, but no mood, no location, though I might add music.
